Shadow AI agents. Denied until someone answers for them.
Scripts, plugins and old pilots are already calling your systems. Without a Hawcx identity tied to an employee, they get nothing.
Checked wherever traffic passes a point you control: a gateway, your network egress or a managed device.
AI agent authentication
At Halcyon Media, a scheduled job called warehouse-sync reads the data warehouse, but no one ever registered it. Its call is denied because it has no Hawcx identity. Owen Price, the data team lead, enrols it under his name with limits. Its next calls are decided like any agent's: reading finance revenue is allowed, exporting the full customer list waits for Owen, and reading salaries is rejected.

Without a Hawcx identity, nothing. Every call is denied, and still recorded.
Who answers for them?
Enrol the useful ones under the employee responsible, with limits.

Keep teams moving. Not everything shut down.
Most shadow agents do useful work. The goal is a person behind each one, not a ban.
Nothing to install on laptops
Hawcx sees calls where they pass a point you control. It doesn’t scan devices.
Keep the useful ones
Enrolling an agent keeps it working, now with a person and limits.
Nothing left to steal
Enrolled agents get access one call at a time, so a copy holds nothing.

Shadow AI agent questions, answered
What are shadow AI agents?
Agents, scripts and plugins that call your company’s systems without being registered or tied to a person who answers for them. Most were set up to save time, and many outlive the person who set them up.
How does Hawcx find shadow AI agents?
Any agent without a Hawcx identity is denied by default where its traffic passes a point you control, and the attempt is recorded. Hawcx Discovery then lists the agents calling your systems, registered or not.
Can Hawcx stop a shadow agent that never passes through our network?
No. Hawcx checks traffic that passes a point you control: a gateway, your network egress or a managed device. An agent that never touches one of those is outside what Hawcx can see or stop.
What happens to a shadow agent once it’s found?
It stays denied until an employee takes it on. Once enrolled, it gets an identity rooted in that person and limits on what it may do, and each call is allowed, held for a person or rejected, like any other agent. You can also stop it from one place.
Does Hawcx manage the keys and service accounts shadow agents borrow?
No. Hawcx governs agents, not secrets. Enrolled agents get access one call at a time and never store it, so there’s no long-lived key for anyone to copy.
How is this different from an AI agent inventory tool?
An inventory lists agents. Hawcx decides their calls before they run and records every attempt. You can run both.
Every agent answers to someone. Or it doesn’t run.
